On June 2 and 3 this year, the 14th Festival of Slavic and Cistercian Culture was held in Ląd nad Wartą (80 km from Poznań, Poland). Here is a link to photo gallery, some of the photos match the atmosphere of Ironsworn very well in my opinion. https://www.muzarp.poznan.pl/pl/aktualnosci/111 And there is another, much larger annual event: Festival of Slavs and Vikings, held on Wolin Island. Here’s a link to galleries from 2004-2018 editions: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Festiwal_Słowian_i_Wikingów?uselang=pl Shawn, you should come and take some photos if you need more graphic content :) And maybe I will visit some of the future editions of these events and put a report on my blog, https://castelviator.wordpress.com :) https://www.muzarp.poznan.pl/pl/aktualnosci/111

Page 96 of the Rulebook says “The shaken debility (page 37) is temporary and can be dealt with through the Heal or Sojourn moves” but there is nothing about removing shaken debility in the description of Heal move (page 63) nor on page 37. So I guess that Heal cannot help with being shaken?

I just came across something that may be useful in your Ironsworn adventures:

I just came across something that may be useful in your Ironsworn adventures: Advanced Expanse: Broken Woods, "a rules-neutral supplement for any tabletop role-playing game. Use a standard deck of playing cards to create fresh, exciting, and dynamic wilderness encounters". Available for free at DriveThru: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/170382/Advanced-Expanse-Broken-Woods?src=hottest_filtered (I'm not connected with the creators of this material in any way, I just found it cool and want to share) http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/170382/Advanced-Expanse-Broken-Woods?src=hottest_filtered

I’m curious about the origins of Varou names. Some of them sound quite amusing to Polish (or other Slavic language) speaker: Jarek is a diminutive of Jarosław which happens to be my name ;) Jasna means “bright” in Polish. Iskra means “spark” in Polish. Charna sounds exactly like “czarna”, which means “black” in Polish. Vata sounds like “wata”, which means “cotton wool” in Polish. Radka is a diminutive of Radosława, Polish female name. Evka sounds exactly like “Ewka”, which is a diminutive of Ewa, Polish female name. Some other including Neda, Zora and Vojan are Balkan Slavic (e.g. Serbian) names. So, I’m not sure whether it is indended, but Varou have Slavic flavour. Maybe there should be an add-on, in which players are Varou defending their homeland against nasty Ironlander invaders ;) Or someone will add some creatures from Slavic bestiary, such as these: https://slowianskibestiariusz.pl/en/bestiary/ Pic related ;)

Hi, I have some questions about the game mechanics:

Hi, I have some questions about the game mechanics: 1. Are Challenge Ranks set in stone or flexible (apart from the special situation on the miss of Fulfill your vow/Reach your destination moves)? For instance, when I fight against a band of raiders that collectively are Formidable and manage to kill some of them, should the Challenge Rank turn to Dangerous or not? 2. What happens if I am marked or haunted and before I finish the quest to get rid of this burden, I score a weak hit on Face Death/Face Desolation move once again? Am I automatically dead/broken, or can I take yet another quest? 3. If I have a bond with a person or community, and this person dies or community is destroyed, should I remove this bond? I guess so, but I’m not entirely sure. “Add +1 if you shared a bond” part in the Communion Ritual description is quite ambiguous in this matter. 4. If I try to assassinate someone with a dagger using Face Danger move as in this blog post https://ironsworndiaries.blogspot.com/201...

Hi, I have an idea what could make Ironsworn even better game than it is now: another kind of progress track and corresponding set of moves, named “Social challenges” or something in this style. At the moment, we have 4 kinds of progress tracks: for iron vows, journeys, battles and bonds. Excluding the last one which has different purposes, these are three things in Ironsworn that have various challenge ranks, from “troublesome” to “epic”. But what about social challenges? Sure, there is “Compel” move. The problem is that making this move has always the same chance of success, regardless if you are trying to compel a farmer or a chieftain. So I propose to introduce a progress track for social challenges, and the challenge rank (all possibilities, ranging from “troublesome” to “epic”) would depend on three things: 1. The difference between the social status of player’s character and his/her debater. It’s much more difficult to persuade or intimidate the tribal chieftain than poor farmer...
