Hello guys!

Hello guys! I'm new here in the community and a few days ago I found Ironsworn in the community of the Freebooters on the Frontiers 2th. I downloaded the Ironsworn, set up my character and embarked on my first adventure in a solo RPG. I was amazed! I was like John Risus, writing the tales of my adventures all night long. It really was a great discovery the world of solo rpg games and having the opportunity to start with the ironsworn was an amazing surprise. While I was playing my adventure, a question arose that I could not find an answer in the book or here. Is it possible to achieve a progress milestone in more than one vow at a time? I have two vows that are directly related and for now I am treating as if this were possible. What would be the official response? Ps: Sorry for my english. Its not my mother language

Here's some advice on Inciting Incidents from the upcoming Ironsworn Chapter 7.

Here's some advice on Inciting Incidents from the upcoming Ironsworn Chapter 7. As noted in the character creation chapter, you'll start your adventures with a background vow and an inciting incident. The latter is what will drive your initial session(s) of play. -------------------- An inciting incident is the problem which arrives at the beginning of a story, forcing the protagonist into action. Everything up to that point is backstory—the normal world which your character has become accustomed to. In Ironsworn, the inciting incident is the tipping point which forces you to undertake a life of perilous quests and adventure. To start your character's story, envision an imminent threat or compelling need. You can use a a quest starter from the Ironsworn book, talk it out at the table, or Ask the Oracle. This problem will dictate what drives your first session and sets your character’s story in motion. What makes a good inciting incident? Make it personal. Why is this import...

Here it is, Hunting the Red Warlord.

Here it is, Hunting the Red Warlord . Issue 3 of the Red Warlord Saga. Not a lot of progress in this session, following the trail of the raiders (basically one giant undertake a journey move). I’m hoping that my schedule will allow me to get in one more game this week! This is something of a landmark for me, a full session with no combat! https://drive.google.com/open?id=12c7qKuLQt-Dohdff4P7kT0jpYFwyMTi7 https://drive.google.com/open?id=12c7qKuLQt-Dohdff4P7kT0jpYFwyMTi7

It's gross and grey outside today, seems like the perfect time to resume the tale of Bastien and the Red Warlord!

It's gross and grey outside today, seems like the perfect time to resume the tale of Bastien and the Red Warlord! Also, I had a thought inspiried by the ICRPG community's Living World of Alfheim. Since many of us play Ironsworn without the benefit of a group, I wondered if it would be of interest to anyone to create a "shared Ironlands" maintained via wiki or similar. It would be a place to flesh out the hills and dales of the Ironlands with play material (random tables and such) as well as with landmarks that other players could then integrate into their own games. For example, during your *Undertake a Journey* move you need to reach a waypoint. Normally you'd just make one up and move on, but with a Living World you could look to see where other Ironsworn have used, and use it for yourself as well. Villains and heroes could become recurring characters in other players' games as well! It's kind of a nascent thought that I'm still kicking around, ...

So I hope this appropriate for the "Discussion" tag.

So I hope this appropriate for the "Discussion" tag. Just kind of wanted to check in, shoot the ... well you know, see how everyone was doing, and maybe give an update on myself. I haven't been able to play any lately. Yeah, I know, sad face. I went on a cruise, came home and almost immediately got the flu. Fought that off and finally got well enough to return to work where I have been swamped playing catch up. I really want to get back to Ironsworn, but to be honest, I kind of lost interest in my previous AP. I mean, I really liked it, but I guess due to the extended break... I guess it happens. Anyway, how are you lot?

And now for something a little different: A slayer of monster's by trade, Steiner hunts an unknown monster that stalks the countryside. Yet in the Ironlands, things are rarely what they seem. So, I'm a large fan of the Witcher series and after a chat with Shawn Tomkin about the feel of combat, I wanted to try out a character that was built for combat and see if it affected the tension level of the fight. This chapter is the result. It is worth mentioning, this narrative is lifted in content and theme from Andrzej Sapkowski's "The Witcher" and reimagined for Ironsworn. Also, the dice rolls tend to change things. :-) I'm happy to say, combat is still stressful and doesn't ever seem to drag for me. Steiner is naturally able to handle more difficult challenges, but the dice are fickle and not even trivial fights should be considered safe. Thank you to everyone who reads, I hope these inspire. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NEAWnnkiIQuSZ_ExWMhOmcfYoPMF...

I haven't head much time for games lately, but I have finally read the section of the book about the Ironlands and I want to explore the setting (and have silly paper miniatures fights). https://solounmondodicarta.wordpress.com/2018/02/18/ironsworn-amara-of-whitebridge-1/ https://solounmondodicarta.wordpress.com/2018/02/18/ironsworn-amara-of-whitebridge-1/

I'm thinking about a warrior-monk type of asset.

I'm thinking about a warrior-monk type of asset. Something like: "When you make a move, you may use your current Spirit instead of the relevant stat. When you do so, take -1 Spirit." Thoughts? It can be a huge boost, but only a couple of times. Should you have to test spirit?

Announcing: Ironsworn - Free Forever!

Announcing: Ironsworn - Free Forever! The Ironsworn RPG preview edition has been free to download (and continuously evolving) for nine months. My original plan was to offer both a free preview and a paid supporter version once the core book is finished. But, my satisfaction comes from seeing folks downloading, playing and talking about Ironsworn. Plus, to be honest, I'm entirely too lazy to maintain two versions moving forward. So, the Ironsworn PDF will be offered as a single, complete, free version. Have questions? Here's some answers! -------------------------- "I want to express my thanks via cash! How do I do that?" First of all, thanks! I'm really glad you are enjoying Ironsworn. Secondly, I would suggest that you instead donate $5, $10, $20, or whatever you can spare, to a charity dedicated to progressive causes such as civil rights, humanitarian relief, or environmental protection. If you are not sure which charity to contribute to, I recommend using the C...

Semi-Random character creation for Ironsworn....

Semi-Random character creation for Ironsworn.... If you’d like to give fate a heavier hand in your character creation, do the following: 1) Gather the asset cards and organize them into decks by type (companion, path, martial focus, and ritual). Exclude any cards that don’t fit your vision for the setting, such as rituals if you aren’t including magic. Shuffle the individual decks and put them face down. 2) Choose a card from any deck. Don’t look at it. Pass the draw to the next player. Continue taking turns drawing a single asset from any deck until you have five in your hand. 3) Reveal your cards and choose two of them to discard. The remaining three cards are your character’s assets. 4) Roll on the following table, and assign the +3 value to the result. Then, distribute the remaining stats (+2, +2, +1, +1) as you like. 1-20 Edge 21-40 Heart 41-60 Iron 61-80 Shadow 81-00 Wits 5) Ask the Oracle “What is my background vow?” and spark an idea using the ‘Goal’ oracle (page 175). Free time has been a rare commodity lately, and I may be without Internet tomorrow as my ISP are coming out to do some work on the lines, but I wanted to get something done with Nikkel... so what little time I had I played a little... a very little, but a new small/short session post is up on the wiki. Session 13, Entitled: "Drinking in the Darkness", which can be found in the normal places on the site at the link below. Let me know if you can't find it, or what you think... http://irollsolo.tiddlyspot.com
