Hey all, Rules question -

Hey all, Rules question - Aid your ally move - So it grants the benefits of the secure an advantage move. So if its a strong hit and the receiver chooses to make another move +1 immediately does this trump the first move and interrupt it? Thanks for the help in advance!

Guys, i have some doubts. can you clear that for me?

Guys, i have some doubts. can you clear that for me? Can i burn momentum at the reset value? or can i burn momentum even with a hit in the dices? this questions camed up to me when i was looking right to the swordmaster asset. This asset allows me burn momentum to ¨improve my result¨. So, what that means? there is no specificity here. when i burn momentum can i apply damage even without a hit? ...

I have a playtest/preview package for the Ironsworn Delve supplement available here:

I have a playtest/preview package for the Ironsworn Delve supplement available here: http://bit.ly/Try-Delve (Google drive folder) What is Delve? It is a supplement for site-based exploration. When your sworn vows take you into deep caverns, perilous forests, mysterious ruins, baneful bogs, or forgotten underkeeps, break out this supplement. The new moves, mechanics, oracles, and denizens plug directly into your Ironsworn campaign. The preview includes: - Chapter 1 and 2 of the rulebook - Moves reference sheet - Theme and domain cards - Site worksheet - Aspect and Focus Oracles What it doesn't include, but is planned for the final version: - New NPCs/denizens - More oracles - Various other bits of content - Editing, proofreading, design, polish, etc. Needless to say, things are a work-in-progress. Please excuse the rough edges. Feel free to share questions and play reports here, or join me in the delve-playtest channel on the Discord server: https://discord.gg/8fpWH6J . Thanks! ht...

I’m learning by solo playing!

I’m learning by solo playing! A question about the chapter sheet though. Shouldn’t there be spaces for writing down the specifics of your bonds, beside marking their progress? Seems like they should be given more relevance on the sheet than leaving the details to a scratch pad.

That feeling you get when you discover a cool new roleplaying game that you really want to try out, and even though you have loads of dice already, you really want to get some more dice just especially for this game... #GeekProblems #Ironsworn

I'm really excited that Jacob Ross will be offering some Ironsworn-compatible content as part of his latest Kickstarter. Beast races for Ironsworn? Heck, yeah. I'm in an ongoing Ironsworn (Roll20) game.

I'm in an ongoing Ironsworn (Roll20) game. I swore an iron vow a few sessions ago to defeat "Omar the Bloody". We've traveled around a bunch now, and come across Omar who has caused us all grief. We come to the (hopefully) the final confrontation, and the rest of the party now feels that they really want this guy dead too. I've made progress (5.5 boxes worth). They're kind of joining me on my quest. How much progress, if any, should the other party members start with? (We found a solution, but I'm curious how other's would handle this.)

Hey Shawn, How did you come up with this?

Hey Shawn, How did you come up with this? Played with the additions from delve, and it's a fun game. I noted that on some occasions, applying certain things to the numerical aspect is a little tricky (Like using secure an advantage to prepare lockpicks, you wouldn't think of that as securing an advantage, you'd think of that as using an advantage you already have- anyway.) All in all, fun.

A post in which I discuss the statistics of Progress, Progress Moves and Challenge Ranks in the context of that wonderful optional rule, Scene Challenges. I used a Python script to run a crude Monte Carlo analysis to simulate 10,000,000 scene challenges, 40% of which were randomised by trait, and the others using a fixed trait. Because, geek. TL;DR - The borderline between Dangerous and Formidable is pretty much the point at which you're more likely to failure than succeed. Proceed with caution. https://phophosolo.home.blog/2019/01/21/the-statistics-of-progress-in-ironsworn-scene-challenges/
is there a release date for the delve expansion?

How do you handle it when an iron vow seems to map closely to a process handled by other rules?

How do you handle it when an iron vow seems to map closely to a process handled by other rules? Like, killing a beast or making a journey? Do you make all the progress from the process translate exactly into progress for the vow? What if the process and the vow resolve differently? How do you set difficulty levels? Like, if you make a vow to kill a wyvern, do you count the difficulty of overcoming the wyvern into the difficulty of the vow? Wouldn't that mean that you go through all the trouble of killing the wyvern, and then you've only made one progress toward the vow? Or do you just make the vow easy, reckoning that the difficulty of the fight makes the vow difficult to make progress on?
Anyone tried using the ‘beyond the wall’ character playbook to flash out character and bond with npc?

I've updated the Ironsworn sticky post ( https://plus.google.com/+ShawnTomkin/posts/HizDvRjQcoY ) with some community links. Google apparently has plans to start winding down G+ as soon as later this month, and I hope you'll consider joining me at one of these destinations: Reddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/Ironsworn/ Discord : https://discord.gg/8fpWH6J Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/groups/328279421036397/ The Discord group is friendly and active, and it's the place to be if you want to get involved in early playtests and previews. Meanwhile, the Ironsworn subreddit is growing, and the general Reddit RPG community ( https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/ is a great destination for tabletop RPG discussions and news. At this stage, I have decided against creating a MeWe community, but you'll find me lurking there as Shawn Tomkin. Feel free to tag me in any Ironsworn-related discussions. A shortish post about basic probabilities in Ironsworn.

A shortish post about basic probabilities in Ironsworn. TL;DR - you always have at least a 50% chance of some kind of success. If you want to meta-game, and can't use your best stats, make moves to build momentum. At the end I talk briefly about the "fail forward" principle. If your fiction suggests sub-optimal moves, take it! Failure is definitely the most interesting way to drive the fiction forward (and especially, especially in solo campaigns). https://phophosolo.home.blog/2019/01/10/basic-probability-in-ironsworn/

I swear an Iron Vow to play this after my current campaign wraps up.

I swear an Iron Vow to play this after my current campaign wraps up. (Rolled a miss.) Guess that campaign might take longer than I think. Nevertheless! I shall not forsake.my Vow!
