How do you handle it when an iron vow seems to map closely to a process handled by other rules? Like, killing a beast or making a journey? Do you make all the progress from the process translate exactly into progress for the vow? What if the process and the vow resolve differently? How do you set difficulty levels? Like, if you make a vow to kill a wyvern, do you count the difficulty of overcoming the wyvern into the difficulty of the vow? Wouldn't that mean that you go through all the trouble of killing the wyvern, and then you've only made one progress toward the vow? Or do you just make the vow easy, reckoning that the difficulty of the fight makes the vow difficult to make progress on?
Don’t know how this never occurred to me before, but Ironsworn is kind of perfect for roleplaying in Middle Earth.

I’ve started an Ironsworn actual play, setting the Ironlands within the world of Mythika from the Mazes and Minotaurs RPG (so my PC can be a Greek hoplite). Sorry, the fiction’s a little spare; but I’ve been enjoying playing, and I’m afraid I’d get bogged down if I committed to writing more elaborate fiction. http://archonidesintheironlands.wordpress.com

Tinkering with a homebrew asset to ground a hero in a place and reinforce social/community aspects of the game: Path Landed When you possess land of your own upon which you live... ⚫️ Envision your home and create a bond with the land itself and those who reside upon it. When you Sojourn on your land you automatically take a strong hit instead of rolling. When you Undertake a Journey departing from your home, on the first segment of the journey you may roll +heart instead of +wits if you desire. ⚪️ When you Secure an Advantage by marshaling the resources of your land or its inhabitants, take +1 if you roll +heart. If you burn momentum on such a roll, take +2 momentum after you do so. ⚪️ When you Enter the Fray in defense of your land or its inhabitants, take +2 momentum before you roll and you may always roll +heart.
